Desperate! switching from AMR to Koni/GC due to ride harshness....can i re-use the AMR top mounts,
hey guys,
I have been on a custom AMR valved suspension for 2 years and the ride is terribly harsh, bouncy on even the most mildly uneven roads and goes into a complete death bounce and bad roads. I was debating between a tein ss (which i know rides stock-ish) and a koni/gc combo with softer rates and I am leaning towards the konis.
I just need to know what else I will need with the koni/gc set-up for installation. I know they do not come with top mounts or dust boots, but what is missing that i will need to buy or be able to re-use off of the AMR set-up, if anything?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

depend on what the top mount looks like. If it is OEM type, and you bought your konis new, you can just press out the old metal sleeve and press in the one that the konis come with.

why would you be asking this question bro? From my knowledge of AMR, they make custom full coilover systems for all of their customers. Why not just talk to the AMR sponser here on HT and have your coilovers sent back for softer spring rates and shock revalving? the only problem i see with that is, the turn around time for you. Other than that, why spend the money on another suspension setup. The GC/Koni setup is a great setup which many people swear by, but make sure you know what your options are before you make your decision. GL bro

i can't afford the downtime and would rather start fresh with a new set-up. the amr purchase was a complete disappointment and given that i had ordered soft rates the car should be ride soooo much nicer....but it doesn't, it rides stiff and bouncy and i am fed up with it. I'd rather start with something new, and just need to do some research to see what extras need to be purchased.

what are the spring rates for the AMR setup? what chassis application are they for?

integra, rates are supposed to be 8k/5k/ rides absolutely terrible though.
can anyone commment on compatibility of amr/f2f/ksport/ any taiwan topmount on a koni shock?

Again, as bmoua suggested, why not contact AMR directly? If your situation is as dire as you make it out to be, why take a chance with advice from others when you can get it directly from the source?

the koni's have a 12mm diameter shaft, stock and most others have 10mm so unless the AMR top hats have a 12mm hole you won't be able to use it unless you can somehow bore it out.
im riding 550F/450R gc/koni set up and it rides pretty good on the street, although anything near route 90 is a gong show. i've ridden in a few cars with PIC's and they ride really nice, my friend had the selects in 10k/8k and it rode really good until he lowered it really low and kept rubbing the fender liners.
