I have an 1997 H22A4 motor and have been trying to get headers to go with my new setup, but all I can find are headers for 92-96 models. I was wondering if these would fit on. I cant imagine that big of a difference in the years especially from 96 to 97 unless they dont put it down on the applications because of the OBD change. My engine was converted to OBD1. If anyone knows if the 92-95/6 headers will fit up to my 97 let me know or if you know a good manufacturer of headers for the 97-00 years. Ive asked this question on another foram and didnt get quite the response i wanted so i came here hoping for something better

Any H22 header will bolt up to the head, though I'm not sure if the downpipe length is different....

96 to 97 is when they changed generations, so yes, there is a very big difference between those 2 years as far as the overall car goes, but probably not much on the actual header design.

 

anyone have measurements for the downpipe /type of flange on the end for the 92-96 years or can confirm/deny what i said before?

 

I would think the easiest way to check initial fitment would be to compare part numbers between the '96 & '97 exhaust manifold gaskets. If they're different, I would be skeptical about fitment. Do you have access to a pre-'97 header and that is why you're asking or are you just asking the question for general info? If you're purely in the stages of looking for a header, I would recommend sticking with ones manufactured for your model, otherwise you'll end up with having to get a custom merge collector made for the mid-pipe that connects to the cat.
