Default freshly built h23/vtec..... help please

hey guys i just recently put my motor together. I went to cycle the engine and there seems to be low oil pressure because the oil coming out of the cam caps is relatively slow instead of a constant stream, is this normal or what can i do to fix it

new oil pump?
running oil squirters?

do you have an oil pressure gauge to verify low pressure? Cranking pressure is not that great as the pump is driven by the crank which is not turning near the speed of idle. Idle should have ~10psi at operating temps and about 60psi for cold start, given you still have balance shafts.

did you rotate the bearing to block the holes?

if oil is coming out of the oil caps with the starter then the pump is working. i would start it and see it it holds steady pressure.

having a gauge, imo, is a requirement for this build.

how did you remove them? are you using the KS kit?

i would say get some way to monitor oil pressure and start the engine.

it will have around 80-90psi at cold start and about 30 or so psi at idle operating temps.

you dont need to spin the bearing if you use the kit. You have a set screw which is tapped into the journal which blocks the hole.

You should be able to rent an oil pressure gauge at Autozone.

first i tried on the side of the head but the reading wasnt so great, then i put it on the back of the block and got the same reading. I just dont understand why it would read 0 at idle but the oil light doesnt come on.

yes its a used oil pump, im not planning to drive it until i have everything checked and i know it safe. some of my friends told me that it could be the pick up tube, but my oil pan isnt dented or anything. i even tried putting 20w 50 oil in it and still got same reading. would it matter if i used h23 bearings on h22 crank and vice versa.

did you measure the main bearing clearance? how many miles are on the oil pump?
