How about a 3.2L with a powerglide and 9" ford.

What's your budget?

Hang around here and read.

Don't be in a hurry to spend your money. Make a list of what you think you want to do and things you'll need to get there.

Most of us waste a lot of money thinking we want one thing only to find out we want more.

You'll need a good legal roll cage to start with. You can have all the motor you want, but you need a good chassis to get the power to the track.

The K series seems to be where things are going but there seems to be a question about there tranny's.

The B series is the proven engine. It has the same support as a small block chevy.

There's a ton of good people here that are welling to help. Just remember to buy from the racers on this site. Support those who support the sport.

o yea i know full well the chassis has to be up to par with the engine....nobodies responding to me but i was also wondering what brand suspension parts do you recommend (control arms, shocks, coil overs etc)....and i was planning on going probably b16a2 ...get all forged internals...get serious headwork done...and then choose some cams to put in it....after that i was going to put a turbo on it (not up to par on my turbos) and then finally nitrous.....i have experience with all older muslce cars...as you can see i own a charger and built that engine and blueprinted it myself....but with all these electronics and stuff it makes me wanna pull out my hair!!!!

Yes, at least a B18. We just got our block back from Golden Eagle they installed there sleeves. Our Head is coming from Brad at RLZ in NC.

For Suspension we like Progress Competition great customer service and they will build shocks for your set up, not sell you something they have on the shelve.

Check out rota92's thread on our Hot Rod build. rota can help you GE, Progress and Brad.

You'll want to get to know Tony1 at http://www.t1racedevelopment.com/

and Joe Simpson at Tempest Racing.

NRG is another good place.

PM rota and he'll get back to you after work.

BTW I use to have a 1970 Duster 340 4-speed back in my day.

nice dude go for it!!!! i love both muscle cars and imports....i find older cars easier to work on...i could blueprint a big block in a few hours....right now im clueless as of where to start with this thing!! my charger has a 525 blown hemi...outs out a shitload of horsepower...runs high 8's right now. now when i get into all this computer harness/ efi i get confused lol..

also what do you guys think... is it REASONABLY more expensive to make an all engine car run say an 11 e/t than it would be to just turbo it

^^^ It depends. I've seen 600+ hp big money turbo cars run 11's because of traction issues and then I've seen a light *** crx with an all motor engine go 11's as well. Depends really. Just keep it simple and you won't be in the same boat as a lot of people here including myself who don't have running cars but jackstand queens.

ok so i was thinking of an all engine build...after all my "contemplating and discussing" today with different people....would the b20/ gsr head be the best way to go for all engine performance...or would a gsr do just as good...bc i know the b20 is bigger...and also...where do you find just heads for an engine ...if i were to do this...where would i find a b16 head???

Most don't like the B20, I think it's the rod ratio is wrong.

If I were you I'd look for a K20 or somebody here the other day said a K24 with a K20 head.

My son rota92 ran 11.95 with a 260whp D16z6 with a GT35R and 8.5" slicks. Turbo's can make lots of HP cheaply. Last year we had the quickest D16 in the country, and it was the most powerful one overall.

There's lots of ways to get there. Your in a good location, there's a ton of support with in minutes of you.

Read more here in the drag race forum and you'll get all kinds of ideas.

Are you in northern Jersey and down south?

Do we...You need to call Brad at RLZengineering. I have his email but it will take me awhile to find his number. We all know Brad he's in NC. PM rota92 (Ryan), he has Brad on speed dial. Ryan can also help you with the gsr. That's a great place to start.

Don't buy rods or pistons until you talk to Ryan.

He's on 2nd shift and can't get IM at work. I'll email him this link.

Probably around 100hp both in stock forms. I would pick up that GSR your friend is selling. That would be a good deal and user friendly for you. Plus there are a ton of after market parts for those engines and probably the most used performance parts are for those engines as well.

The b20 block has a nice crank in it. They have the same stroke as the 1.8l LS crank. The good/bad with the b20 block is they come in 84mm bore which is great for the size. But the problem with them is the sleeve design is very thin from the factory and prone to crack. But if you are serious about a drag car, you will need to look into putting iron sleeves in your block which will take care of that issue.

yeaa... i read up on that...i would definatly need to reinforce the sleeves on a b20. i just had one more question also, i have no experience with nitrous at all...what kind of compression do you need to be running it/ can you have high compression running it?
