i need to know how to hook up the cigarette light to a 89 civic si...trying to get my gps to stay charging while driving

 

DId it not come with one? Well if it dident and you have one, you got 2 wires, the one in the middle of the lighter on the back of it is for + and the one on the side is a flat plug is for -, so if your keeping the location around the stereo your best best is to find the power wires on your cd player (red) and run another line off that to the ciggerette lighter for you 12v power. Since it gives power when the car is in the on position just like all imports. So when ever you want to turn it off simple turn off the car.
For the - side of the lighter just run a wire off it and ground it somwhere around the steroe, or you can even use the black wire from the stereo which is ground.
