yea that's true, i would just try to talk them down to 3k just to kind of cover the cost of getting the rust taken care of..but if money isn't a concern then go for it

are you sure the salesman told you the truth about the owners age?
cause i know a friend that sells cars, the thing he always say is "the owner took good care of the car" even though most of the cars go back and forth between dealers if they dont sell, and some come from dealer auctions, so theres no way to know the history of every car.

I bought my '94 DX hatch that had "85K" on it (turned out to be a changed gauge cluster) for $3,300 with TTL...but it was pretty much in mint condition with only a few minor cosmetic issues.

Sounds pretty shitty. It's a CX, I wouldn't even buy a beat up Si like that for 3.3k.
I don't know why you're even considering this. It's a completely shitty deal.
Not to mention I don't wanna bust your bubble and all but "showroom exterior" doesn't mean "has rust."
That's a horrible deal, don't buy it.
I live in NY and our rust conditions are just as bad. I got both my civics for 3k - completely 100% mint interior, 100% mint exterior (0 rust, 0 dings, etc. etc.) (my EJ8 was just painted before I bought it, too). And IMO a EX (they're both EX's) is a lot better than a CX.
So it's not like they're rare - and 3300 for a rusty CX is far from a bargain.
Shop around, you'd be surprised at what you find, but that's not a good deal at all.
EDIT:
PS: A 5th gen CX w/ Honda rust and a good interior and exterior otherwise is probably worth about 2500...tops...though if it was for a CX I wouldn't pay more than 2200 or so for it

i agree completely with syndacate... i bought my CX body is 85% clean out of a 100, interior is mint, i am 2nd owner, old lady being the first... i paid 1,800 and i think i spend too much but i was desperate for a shell....3300 is way to much for a cx hes trying to rob you sir. im a car salesman at acura(at work now). ill bet my left nut they traded that car for AT THE MOST 1500, prob 1000. you can talk him down ALOT, is he says thats what we own it for tell him you want to see a printout of what he owns it for and the inspection pkg(you have to pay it for all trade ins) but trust me hes looking at you as a new versachi suite bro... if he says he cant go any lower, simply say good luck with the sale and if you can do beeter for me give me a call... you win
he'll call back if no one else has looked at that car... if he dont go to the next step up and speak with the sales manager

there are tons of ek's that go for 3.3k (private sale) that i see on craigslist here with less rust, im sure you can find a better deal
isnt the 95 cx hatch worth 10 - 11k brand new in late 1994? your buying a 14 year old car for 3,300, which is 1/3 of its value when its new

I will also have to agrees with syndacate and egmatt. I bought my 95 CX for 2500 and I live in the south and dont have the rust problem. I feel I paid to much but also really wanted a hatch at the time so i wasn;t thinking prop. the nada retail on a 95 CX is $2800 so I would try to get him to knock off a **** load.
I understand where you guys are coming from, but there are not a lot of hondas for sale in this area, and the ones that are ALL HAVE RUST, most have been beaten on, and most are on their third or fourth owner!! The market is a lot different around here, and finding a car with the history such as this one is hard to do!!
I wouldn't say that it's a bad deal. While Syndacate does have a good point, he's talking about coupes. And then other's are also talking about EK hatchbacks. If it's his deal and he wants a hatch in that color, that condition, it's his decision.

For a Wisconsin vehicle with minimal rust and decent mileage (lower than my '98 even), I'd say it's a good deal. Especially if you can get all the records. Sure, the salesman could lie to you, but get a copy of the records on the vehicle. It should have ID of the car on each record to prove it.
A lot of people don't understand that yes, in some areas in the US, you can go for days without seeing a Honda, much less one in decent condition.
Here I could probably buy a similar car for much, much cheaper. Probably decently cheaper than what Syndacate is talking about. But again, the markets are different. If you're a teenager in the Puget Sound area, you have probably owned at least one Honda and will go on to own many, many more. It's like a right of passage here. Meanwhile, I'm from the east coast and my totally stock Civic EX coupe was well known in the area just because it was clean. That's how little it took to stand out from the crowd there.

I understand where everyone is coming from, and honestly I respect everyones opinion, that is why I posted here!1 The last time I saw a honda from that year in decent shape on a lot was when I bought my 94 coupe with 43k on it 4 years ago. Just did a carfax and it checks out great!!

I talked to the salesman who took the trade and said the couple who traded it in were both born in 1938. They where the only owners, and had all the work done at honda ( he printed me off the records). The car has 120k, the interior and exterior are in showroom condition ( minus the godd@amn honda/wisconsin rust) I am able to get the car before it goes onto the lot for $3300 tax/title/liscense included!! Think its worth it???

Stalk the craigslists for major southern cities near airports- im talking:
Atlanta
Charlotte
Charleston
Greenville
Athens
theres so many more i could go on and on, but anyways
find one thats clean and cheap, fly down here for 100 bucks and drive the thing back.
You dont want to buy a car with rust. no excuse considering how easy it would be to get a southern car. Sure you can weld in quarter panels, but its a lot of work... trust me ive done it before. The worst thing is the suspension bolts ect, there all going to be terribly rusted up and its going to cause a lot of issues say if you want to swap LCA's... have fun drilling out bolts

i got ya and i understand if its hard you have to deal with what you can get but you better negotiate somewhat with him and not pay the full 3300, you never know what you can get until u ask
yeah i think you can do better i got my 95 cx with the d16z6 engine for only 2k, decent body and interior but ran great and looked just as good anything wrong was just minor, plus it didnt have the sub 70 hp engine that comes in a cx

I say you should bargain more.
