Default What is this notched semi-circle I found in my d16z6 bottom end

I was taking apart my z6 and I found this sitting on the 2nd main bearing. It looked like it came off the crank but I could not see anywhere it could go or anything that looked like it.

any ideas?

Thrust washer for the win! It goes on bottom end on between cyl 3 and 4. theres groves in the block for them to sit. And if you notive on the crank there will be a nice flat/machined surface for them to be against. They help take the pushing of the clutch on the crank from the flywheel/ Notched end out

Man thanks, I would never have found that.
I had to rebuild my old 7-bolt 4G63 because of crank walk from the clutch, it didn't have that washer. Another way Honda owns DSMs

Anytime man, should've had a 6-bolt because crank-walk owns dsms

I didn't even know about crank walk untill my crank did. I thought about swapping in a 6-bolt but that was way too much time and money dedicated to a car that I didn't really like.

So I sold it and bought my hatch

Came across this thread and couldn't remember whether the grooves face out toward the crank or towards the block/girdle? Thx!

The grooves go outward, so the completely flat part rests against the crank.
