98 accord stolen->recovered->ignition ruined

98 accord stolen->recovered->ignition ruined
A friend of mine had her 98 accord stolen a while back. The cops recovered it but the ignition is fudged (a la screwdriver). Has anyone replaced an ignition? Is it possible to get a used/junkyard ignition and put it in this car? Can keys be cut for used ignitions? Any information on this topic would be helpful...trying to save some money on the whole ordeal.

car has immobilixzer, they prolly busted the ignition to tow it away to try and strip it. what else is messed up?
she will need new ignition cylinder and key + have it programmed to ECU. I would also change out the door locks/trunk lock so they match the ignition key (buy the whole set)

Just buy a new ignition cylinder and you're good there, you'll probably also need a new ignition switch.
You'll then need to have the keys reprogrammed so they'll work in your car since it has an immobilizer of sorts.
