Default Ok can anyone tell a ZC engine from a D16z6 without seeing the engine stamp ?

Because I see this engine on ebay which the guy claims is a zc but there is no pic of the engine stamp. However it looks identical to the engine that I blew up in my 95 EX coupe, whereas all these other D16z6's Im seeing for sale have a different valve cover and look different in general ... anyone have a clue as to why ??

The ZC is a DOHC engine, so there is no way it can look like a SOHC D-series engine. Here is a pic of a ZC with a Greddy turbo (hope it shows):

I thought the "ZC" engine was simply a nickname for a D16A6? Wouldn't that mean there was only 1? Sorry I'm a little slow.

There actually several versions of "ZC" but you are partially right, not all ZC are stamped as ZC, usdm ones are D16a6

I have had a JDM ZC SOHC VTEC before. I bought it back in 98 and dropped it into my coupe. Mine had a black valve cover and had VTEC on the valve cover. The american 94-95 sohc vtec valve covers have the gray aluminum look. Like the one on ebay. When I bought my motor I only paid $350.00 for it. It did feel a little bit faster than my old D16Z but not all that much. I would not pay more than $400 for that motor. Anything more than that is not worth it.

Holly ****. You payed $650 for that motor. That is too much. It is not worth it. To top it off I know where JPR is here in Cali. They are overpriced. They use to be cheap last year but now uggg to much money. THat motor is not worth $650. You can get a D16z for about $250- $350 and a zex cam and that will have more power than that zc vtec.
