Default paint store paint "kits"

I've collected all my tools together now and am wanting to go to work on an old hood for practice before I try to start painting any of my cars.

I've been around bodywork for a long time as my dad owns a restoration shop but trying to talk to him about paint aint gonna work. his response is always "I'll paint it for you" I dont WANT that....he sits on stuff for YEARS for family...even his children lol.

I can do the bodywork, I just have never dealt with the ACTUAL painting of the car.

I heard from him that you can pick up "kits" from the paint store that come with the reducers/hardeners/etc.

I'm curious if I can pick up a quart of two-stage base/clear in a kit form and about how much you might think it would run in ppg??

this way I'll know if the paint store is gonna try to rip me off since I dont know any better lol.

oh yeah, my local store is cave auto body

It really depends on what color you want they are all over the board pricewise.
But generally speaking for PPG's DBC basecoat starts off about $85 and goes to
about $160-$170 range for red pearls or something like that. Clearcoat you have several choices ranging from $60-$115 with the additives. Good Luck with your project!
