Losing Faith? (WI)
My name is Tom. And i am currently a college student.
I am a true fan of Honda, perhaps not in the traditional sense. I have not build a single car, but my family has owned them since i was born..
Last summer i worked beyond reason to save money for my very first car. Most people i know, their first cars are either in the family already, or is a rusted piece of crap, with the select few that get a brand new car.
But i wanted to work hard and get a nice car. So my first car is a 1999 Honda Civic DX Coupe. I have no real complaints about the car, it has almost 85K miles on it, it's clean as hell, and it runs just fine, and being a 5-Speed Manual, i enjoy driving it.
At this point, you may be wondering why my topic is entitled "Losing Faith". That is because i am someone who suffers from being picky at times. When i first wanted a car, i wanted a car like my father's, a 1993 Civic CX [EH2]. But my parents refused me to drive such an old car. And no matter how much i know i love my car, every time i turn the key, i wish my car was like my father's, a hatchback. I'm losing faith in the fact that i might never get my "dream car", and considering that it's a Honda, it really shouldn't be hard to obtain.
So i turn, i've been trying to trade my car for an 96 - 99 Civic hatchback, the EK. The only two red flags are it cannot be higher than 90K miles, and it can't have rust. A fair trade for a clean EJ6. But after searching for over 2 months, i still have no results anywhere. I see these cars all around Madison, WI (most are automatics, i'm sure), but i cannot find any for sale.
This is probably because people enjoy these little hatches so much. I'm a college student, and i also need a smaller car as it is, but i really shouldn't complain, considering i have a great Honda already, but it's a terrible nagging feeling. Call me selfish, call me crazy, but i don't feel like i'm driving the right car.
So anyone who is reading this, if you find any clean hatches in the WI area (central prefered), shoot the owner this link, if it's not too much trouble.

All i'm hoping for is to find a hatch. It can't possibly seem as hard as it has been.
Thank you for reading this long message, and it would be great if you could help me out.

99 front ends > 96-98 front ends. I love the way they look personally

My parents bought a 92 Civic CX Hatch, base, off the lot, brand new in 1992, I wanted it as long as I could remember.... Then out of the blue, My dad gave it to me Nov. of 06 because he was having tax issues and the IRS wanted the car, so I know the feeling.

Non-Molested EG/EK's are becoming VERY VERY expensive, almost to the point of where stock ones are fetching higher premiums than ones with motor swaps, or other serious work done, let alone rare.

Honestly, the hatch will feel the exact same, it just won't have a trunk.

Get ready to pay a pretty serious premium for a hatch, its just kinda the way it is.

There are a few hatches in WI that are willing to take my car with about $1.5K - $2K extra, but they are modded. So we'll see..
Thanks for the tip though, i appriciate it.

No prob, After I did my LS swap I had someone on another car board offer me $3K cash, and my car looks like ****, I couldn't believe it, but I had to say no because if/when the body is straight, the car will be worth 5-6K with only maybe 1K in body/paint work.

The worse part is being refused my father's hatch as well. Yea, it's old (everything stock). With a small dab of honda cancer, but still. It's somewhat crazy.
