i love my car but this is stupid...
yesterday while driving in 5th and about 70mph the car went clunk scratch and the engine died and would not restart. there are 34,000 miles on the car and the oil has been changed every 3,000. so now my car is back at acura with a hole in the block. there was no warning at all
and of course acura not being of any help.

DO you have any mods? AEM per chance??
Happened to me ....... sucked up water with AEM Cai ...... months later I heard the same thing ...... bang, crunch, crunch, crunch.
Fatigued connecting rod.
What cylinder did this occur at? Maybe that would help.

I can believe it. Our 2001 NBP had just 600 MILES on it, when a rod bearing went bad cruising at 50mph in 5th. I could not believe it...

i went back to pleasonton acura today to take some pics of the damage and was told of the $8400 cost of replacing the engine... the #3 and #4 rods were broke... i've never broke an engine that i've taken care of... errr.. $5000 just for parts...
