Default Auto-X Tech Inspection

Hello,

Well this is going to be my first year in Auto-X. I plan to get out with my little bro and do at least a few events this year. I have a bone stock 93 DX Sedan that I plan to run after replacing the clutch and flywheel, the rotors and pads and the master cylinder. It should be a fun little car to whip around for the summer and get some seat time in. Anyway, my question is about tech inspection or if there is one? I would like to know if there is a tech inspection for SCCA Auto-X, what are the requirements or things that you run into that aren't on the web? My Auto-X car has a bit of body damage in the front (cracked bumper and dented right front fender), will this be a problem? I live by the "if it aint broke, dont fix it" motto since this is all on a budget. All the belts work, it needs new tyres but thats a given, seats are in good shape, anything else I should worry about?

Thanks,
Ryan

Without seeing the body damage I can't comment on that, but generally I look for battery secured (you'd be surprised how many people don't have battery tie downs...), no loose objects in the car, driver side floor mat removed, brakes feel right, throttle return works, seat bolted down, brake fluid, things along those lines.

fender should be fine as long as its not gonna interfere with the tire at all

as for the bumper I would only worry if it looks like it might break pieces off if it hit a cone

other than that check what conechaser said and you should be good

oh and tires should be fine as long as the belts arent showing yet

In addition to the above, you will probably have your lug nuts checked (making sure you're not missing any) and possibly wheel bearings checked for excessive play. And no obvious fluids dumping out.

Have fun

Our tech looks for any major leaks in the engine bay, pumps your breaks and checks steering as well as lug nuts and battery.

You shouldnt have a problem with tech if you know the car is mechanically sound.
