help with reliable cam/spring/retainer setup for DD (b18a)
hey-
for starters i have a 92 INTEGRA non-vtec.
ive done some research on different cams ect. Although this car wont be driven everyday, i do need it to last if my beater takes a dump on me. more or less im pritty sure im going to go with brian crower 403's. ive heard good things about them, there reasonable in price, and i want something a little more aggressive then 402's but dont want to do anything else really to the motor so 404's are out. im also not looking for massive gains, just somehting a little more then the gains u;d get from typical bolt ons. (btw at the moment i have i/h/e/ no cat, msd wires, and can install my msd ignition if needed)
my issue comes into play with the springs and retainers. BC recommends their's however ive read that the titanium wear down and i'd be looking at replacing them after sometime (not something i want to do). Another thread someone also recomended omnipower vt but thats the onlytime ive ever heard of them, so im not sure about those either. the other option is buying a new stock vt. Id prefer these because there not made out of titanium and i believe will last longer. I also think i can get away with the stock ones because i plan on keeping the stock redline- i dont need to rev anyhigher.
so basically my question is, with a set of 403's can i get away with a stock vt, with a tune and stock redline. and how reliable will it be in the longrun.
if not can someone make any suggestions and give a ballpark price of **** so i know what im getting myself into.
also is there anything else im leaving out?
thanks alot.
