Default Ignition/steering lock interchangability between manual and automatic ???

I have a 1999 EK hatch, the car was jacked and ignition is gone. I've been looking for a new ignition/steering lock. I know the wiring is different, but I still have my old 5 spd wiring. Reason I ask to use an automatic is because they are cheaper and easier to find.

Is it possible for me to use an automatic ignition/steering lock on my 5 speed civic, combined with my existing 5 speed wiring?

Please ask if I'm missing any details...
Thanks
Chris
