i have seen 96-00 hatchie owners take out this civic brake splash gaurd (like puhuanas EK). its located right behind the rotors from your front and rear disc brakes. for more detail, its that metal plate that rounds off just like the size of the rotors.

Anyone with suggestions if taking this brake disc splash guard is safe for daily driving/ track? will it affect the brake system? will it cause less brake dust from it staining your wheels? will it cool down your brakes even more better?

any suggestions or thoughts or knowledge will be gladly appreciated.

 

I dont think it will have any effect on your brake system. Its merely a stock part to keep dust to a minimum.

 

Despite all the naysayers and doomsday prophets, I removed mine when I swapped Integra brakes onto my Civic many years ago, and my car hasn't blown up and the angel of death hasn't caught up with me yet.

It's possible it may help cool the brakes, but you're never going to know the difference. Are you going to run tests with a pyrometer to find out? I did it because it was easier than bending them back into place from sitting in my garage. They get bent and rub your rotors making an awful sound.

 

It so no rocks and **** of that sort get sock between the caliper something like that if you remove it it would cool the brakes better but you also have a chance of getting rock stuck in there, its waht a friend told me he runs NASA and SCCA. Soim going by that

 

you can take it off to help the rotor disipate heat, but you run the chance of having the rotor damaged or, if splashed by cold water when its hot, cracked.
