Hey, new member here. I'm working on a friends 95 prelude. Supposedly the engine has been changed and I don't know exactly which year/model engine is installed. It's a 4 cyl and says Programmed fuel injection on it, but still not exactly sure which model I have. Is there some easy/obvious way of tellling?

My main problem with it is that the exhaust manifold is cracked in half, I need to get a replacement. I just want another stock one to get her back on the road. But before I get one, I need to know which model engine's installed....

I can post some pics too, that will probably help out.

underneath the distributor on the block there should be a badge

 

A picture will help you even more, and show us where the crack is on the manifold

 

look at the exhaust manifold, then look to the left of it as you face it. jsut below the hed there should be a flat spot on teh block, it may be grimed over...but it is there.
on this flat spot it is going to say something like:
h22a1
h22a
h22a4
h23a1
h23a
f22a1
f22a4
f22a6
f22b

those are the most likely stamps...those are going to be the engine codes, take a look and see what code is on yours.

 

K, found it. It says F22B

I dont know exactly what engine this is, if its better or worse than stock. I just want to find a manifold for it... If anyone has one, lemme know.

that is a jdm engine from a prelude si. its 160hp and 148 lb/ft of torque. for exhaust manifolds any h23 NON vtec, or any f22a one will fit the head.
the only thing you need to be sure of is if the manifold will fit the A pipe. the f22b and h23 are 4-2-1, while the f22a4 and f22a6 are 4-2-1, the f22a1 is 4-1 and a LOT more common.

 

My friend was told that the engine in her car is from a 2002 Accord. Is this possible, and is there a way to tell what year it was built? Underneath the F22B it has a few more numbers, maybe they tell more of a story.

f23a1 and f23a5 are the 4 cyl's offered for the 02 accord

f22b is the stock JDM Si motor 4th gen

or Xi in 5th gen prelude
