Welcome to H-T
When the head is off take it to a machine shop and have checked. If you plan to keep the car, have it rebuilt.
Do you have a good set of tools ?

when was the timing belt replaced last ? water pump?

If I had a dollar for all of the unsuccessful head gasket replacement jobs on cooked Honda engines I'd have a few hundred dollars.
Save the trouble, and your money, and just replace the entire engine with a JDM lower mileage engine with a warranty from any of the tons of reputable importers we have here in the US.
By the time you buy the parts, pay a machine shop to mill the head (if you skip this step you might as well just take a **** in any one of the clinders while the head is off) you coould have bought another SOHC engine.
Trust me on this one man - I've been working with these cars for 13+ years and I've seen hundreds of people's cars that still smoked, overhetaed, etc. after trying to replace the head gasket.
For all you know that engine could have been seriously overheated (I'll bet money it was) and the block deck surface is warped, which means it'll never seal unless you did a full teardown, mill, etc. which is a waste on a toss away SOHC engine.
Also you need to think of what that much heat does to the rest of the engine parts too, you know, the ones with 220,000+ miles on them? Rings, bearings, oil pump, etc. etc.
If I come across like a dick I'm not trying to - I am honestly trying to help you.
Good luck!
