1992 honda accord horn only works every now and then!
Hi I have a 1992 honda accord and my horn only works every now and then sometimes when you press it, it will work and sometimes it won't. I'm not sure what is wrong with it does anybody know what will make it work every now and then thanks alot for any answers
HEY JUST FIGURED i'd add that I just checked the fuse box in the engine i think it said 20a was stop horn?? i guess that means the horn lol and well the fuse looked fine as it is suppposed to be shown in the diagram in the book so unless i checked the wrong one I don't think it is the fuse. what other possible things can it be that I can fix?? thanks
To check if the slip ring under the steering wheel is causing the problem, see if the horn works with the wheel turned to certain positions.
Hey guys well i took the honda to the honda dealership and they said the cable reel in the steering wheel that controls the cruise control and the horn is messed up and i need a new one they said it would be 572 dollars doens't that seem ridiculous to just fix a horn lol I was only needing it fixed to take a drivers test but i took it and passed it so a horn isn't worth that much money. Do you think they are trying to rip me off or is that part really that expensive to replace thanks
Well, that part is expensive and I think it's around 2 hours flat rate pay to replace it, yet the price you were quoted does seem a little bit high. I'd guesstimate it should be around $400 Parts and Labor.
So now you can just roll down the window and yell" LOOK OUT" "GET OUT OF THE WAY"?? LOL

Kacey, is your cruise control broke too? If it is, you may want to consider getting that fixed, depending what you use your car for. If you're using your car for short commutes to work or just driving around town, you may not need cruise control. If your driving long distances though, cruise control is a nice thing to have.
I agree w. HD, the dealership price to fix your problem seems a bit on the high side. Suggest bringing your car to an import repair shop that specifically works on Hondas, and get a price estimate from them. If your horn is the only thing that's broke, and their price to fix is also too high, you may just want to live with the intermittent horn.
