Best Set Up to Lower My 08' Accord Coupe
hey all,
just been on the board a month or so since i picked up my new coupe (which i love) and i'm hoping to gain some valuable knowledge and info from the forum as im a little green when it comes to mod'ing cars, only basic knowledge (my Dad's business does work for Jackson Racing so we've had various tuned cars in our household growing up, i was just more into dirtbikes).
anyway... i want to eventually lower my coupe along with putting a staggered set of 19" wheels once the OE Michelin's go and its time to get new tires, so i have some time to research wheels as well as suspensions.
the dealer demo at Galpin Honda where i got my coupe had the set up that's inspired me but im not sure about the route they went. according to the Service Manager they sent the car to GAS (Galpin Auto Sports of "Pimp My Ride" fame) and dropped it with a set of coilovers using the stock struts (i was thinking if they used the stock struts then GAS probably just used springs???). no spacers were needed for the rear wheel to come out more to the fender wall.
my question is, is this the best way to go? i'm not going to track or autocross this car, but i also don't want to sacrifice handling for looks... ive been researching coilover kits (H&R, Koni, GC, Eibach, etc...) but really isn't alot out there since the car is so new...
any and all info is appreciated... thanks!
here's a pic of that dropped coupe too:

ive seen lowering springs for the Accord for both Eibach and H&R... i think this was the way the Galpin car was squatted, but i dont know what brand they use... either way, im not real confident about the handling dynamics of lowering this way? any insight or guesses? i'm not going to take my car up on Mulholland every weekend but i still want it to handle well if i hustle it around

If its just for looks, then the h&R or eibach springs for the OEM shocks is all you need...
they lower the car, and improve the feel... if they didn't those guys wouldn't be in business...
if you don't like how it handles, then swap out the dampers afterwards... but i think it should be fine cause the oem dampers are brand new... and springs do a lot...

my buddy was telling me to go with H&R Springs & KYB shocks, either way i know im going to get thicker sway bars, maybe an improved strut tower brace as well
like i said, im not going to autocross it, but the look & ride is a little plush for my tastes at this point

Good looking car, but wider rears on a FWD?
(I know it's not yours, I'm just saying..)
If you're not going to track the car, and ride quality is important, then there's no reason to be looking at anything other than a decent set of lowering springs (read: not coilovers).

PIC - i know what you're saying about wider rears on a FWD... obviously that set up is all for looks... i'll probably go with a slightly wider wheel/tire package then the 18x8, 235/45 set up that came stock, and just get some spacers for the rear to push them out a little bit.
re: the lowering springs... you don't think there's any need for better shocks/dampers? i'm kind of concerned with stressing the OEM shocks even further then the 268bhp FWD set up already does with stiffer/lower springs?
