Aren't the SI's the top honda civics?
The reason I ask is because I ran into this guy the other night that says that the honda civic SI is not the top of the line. He specifically said that the SI is not the racing Civic. I dont believe that and I dont remember what he said the top Civic was but I will ask if others want to know, I want to know myself. Just wondering.
uhm. the civic si is the best civic here in north america. across the borders into like europe and asia you have the civic type r and the mugen civics and what not.
at least thats what i believe and all i can think to say.
EDIT: (but as you can see, the mugen/type-r civics are becoming more and more relevant here in N. America)

Thats what I thought, I think he may have said type r but I will check with him and find out the specifics. Thats like he had a nissan ser sentra and said it was stock. I thought the altimas or maximas came with a 2.5, his sentra had a 2.5
the nissan sentra se-r does have a 2.5 liter engine i believe. but im a honda enthusiast and im still quite new into learning as much as i can, so therefore i know little about nissans

true true but this person that said the si is not the top shizzle could of realisically meant in the overall market or maybe the person is a domestic
fan and doesnt know squat about imports maybe(thinking)

I agree and am in the same boat as the guy from the previous post. I dont now anything about nissans, just what I see in commercials. Someone has a altima at the job I think if not a maxima that is 2.5, thats why I questioned it. He told me he was only running between like 183 and 193 horses. Arent the Si's like 197?

Stock Maxima is a 3.5L V6 I believe. Stock Sentra Spec V is a 2.5L only making 175HP......the new ones make 200HP but are considerably heavier and therefore still slower than the Si.

But only by a very small amount. Torque helps it almost keep up.

The Civic Si is the fastest Civic available for purchase in North America. I think it's the best Civic, but that's my opinion. An enviromentalist could think the Si sucks, and think the "best" Civic is the GX or the Hybrid. It is all a matter of preference.

Currently -
US Market -DX --> LX --> EX --> Si -->Hybrid --> Mugen Si
(in terms of price)
The Si (regardless of Mugen/non mugen) is the "max in power" avail from the dealership.

And they rev low and make a lot of consistent torque lower in the powerband.
Horsepower doesn't make a car 'fast' because it depends largely on gearing and peak power.

Exactly, the horsepower is derived from a measurement of torque (I forget, it's something like RPM /5252 or something like that), so the shape of the torque curve dictates power output.
I'm really liking the new Mini S's because their torque curve is so linear. I'm test driving one tomorrow
