Default Overheating...could I have blown my head gasket?

I accidently pulled of a coolant line and coolant started pouring every where. I finally got it after about 30-40 seconds. I was at a friends house, so I figured I can make it home...well I get on it about a mile away from my house And i get to a light and see the temp gauge go past the middle, i didnt go no where near the redline on the temp gauge. I let the car cool down and refilled the coolant and now the temp is at normal, I drove it hard and let it idle for 20 mins and the temp stayed normal. I did a compression test and got the usual 300 psi across ( I have 12:1 compression pistons). If I blew my headgasket, the engine would have overheated again? And the compression test would have yielded lower numbers?

its really hard to warp a b-series head.

You are probably fine. The temp gauge didnt even get to H.
the water isnt hot until it gets past the H anyway

wifey drove the del sol to and from work with no water... she thought the temp needle thingy was broken... so she keep driving it...

Fixed radiator and did an oil change (the oil was burnt.....literaly)... The B16A is running fine. I to was afraid of a warped head, but luckly that didn't happen. Two weeks later and so far so good.

Also something to look for is white smoke coming out of your tail pipe and the strong smell of coolent.

You should be ok.. if you didn't even hit the H... shouldn't be a problem at all.....
