Whoever is going to be welding the endtanks onto the core should easily be able to bend up those tanks. Even with minimal sheet metal equipment each facet can be cut out and tacked together. That's unless you're sending out the core too to have the tanks welded to it.

i pmed him the link.
there was a member here, which i lost his contact information that was gonan fab up just the end tanks for me for about $70 +shipping. it was going to be 3 pieces and I would just have someone locally weld it up for me.
If anyone else can help me out that would be great.
Thanks!

I have to admit, I'm a bit confused. I quoted the job pretty fair for the completed tanks. Your asking now for the mockup only for 70.00 and then have it welded locally? Why not just find someone close by and get the job done period?
Fab work isn't cheap, requires fairly descent equipment and a good bit of skill...you have to be willing to pay a fair price for it, dont you think?

My point was, for what I quoted it, I can't imagine having the endtanks mocked for 70+shipping, then having it welded locally would be cheaper in the end.

oh it would be cheaper for me because my friend is going to weld them on the core for me for free.
im sorry for the way you took it. I forgot how much you quoted me, but for what you did, i didnt feel like it was worth it when someone locally will weld them on my core for free. but mocking up the endtanks was what something i wanted that forum member to do, but I lost his information.

Don't worry, I didn't take it any way. I was just wondering. If the local guy to you can weld aluminum, why can't he just make the stuff is all I'm wondering?

Thanks for the recommendation.
I could definately get this done for you. I am not interested in making just the endtanks though. If you want it done you will have to send me the intercooler and the dimensions of the tanks and where you want the tank outlets. IMO if you can get the tanks made for $70.00 plus shipping then you should definately go for that deal. For the complete assembly from myself you are looking at around $250.00.
LMK.

just cut & tacked is perfectly fine.
my friend doesn't mind doing the actual welding of aluminum, but the fabbing processing is what he rather not do.

The only issue I can try to relay to you, is that the aluminum you require for this isn't cheap. When you consider the cost of aluminum and cutting abrasives, the cost of that alone is likely to be 50-65 dollars. You want to pay 70 for the job.
Are you able to provide any material or even the round beaded outlets?

On my end, that's correct, but nevertheless, that's stuff you should pay for no? I have some materials, and was cutting you the best break I can, but you have to pay for materials to some extent.
The aluminum plate is certainly not cheap. I looked over my stuff, but I don't have the length needed. Everything I have is square, and wide enough but not long enough. I'd have to source things, but inevitably just to cut tanks, fit them, then tack them, the job will still exceed 100.00
Whoever said they'd do it for 70.00 must have nothing else to do with their time and just want to use you as an experiment to see if they could make it or not. Cheap is nice, but if you don't end up getting the stuff what good is it?

It sounds like your getting your panites in a bunch because I did not choose you to fab my end tanks. i said thank you and like all in you go with what fits your budget. you were on the higher side of quotes, and as you should have because your trying to make a living off of it.
Cheap is not nice, yes, most of the time, but there is a fine line of quality and pricing. These are end tanks, not as vital as a manifold or downpipe.
I am happy you got back to me, the experience was pleasant and I for sure will be sourcing you out for my future jobs when there is more $ to be budgeted.
but at this time. i am still dumbfounded by the amount of time and effort you put into justifying your price and your response still to this thread.
bottom line, i went with the contractor who bidded the lowest, this time, it was based on price next time it might be based on communication, another time it might be based on highest bidder etc.

excuse me, you kept on trying to justify your price in two to three seperate posts.
I got irritated by you always chiming in saying, how can someone do it for 70 when so and so cost this much. then you bring up quality, and then you bring up other factors.
