there was a thread about this same exact thing a week or so ago. Those have just been redone. Only the 01 Canadian rear seats came in red, and they never got the four door
wow... i never seen those before. If they made it for the dc2 i would be all over it. I think they look better then the canadian red ones. They look better without the center black part.
Any reputable custom interior shop shouldn't have a problem rewrapping a set of 4DR rear seats. Just FYI.
I may have a contact that I can give out if anyone is interested, no clue on pricing so don't ask.

I agree. I hate how he is misleading with a bunch of false information.

I posted this in the other thread, but I was the last post on the first page and some other guy posted right after me on page 2 with some dumb *** reply so I doubt anyone will see what I posted. Hopefully this doesn't count as a double post, I just want some more info on these things.
I am the winner of this auction. I have checked them out and these babies are MINT. I just got done brushing the suede and the fading is extremely minimal.
I have another set of black DB8 rears seats from a Type-R, and I compared these to the black ones, and everything looks completely OEM. The stitching is the same, the material is the same (except for the color of course), the red matches the JDM red Recaros, and the pig nose clips that hook the material to the foam is in the exact same spots. I cannot find anything to suggest these have been re-upholstered.
Were these an option for JDM Integras or what? The seller said he got them in Japan and the original owner said they came stock with the car. No one else I've talked to has heard of these things, and I am getting a lot of people saying they are not OEM.
Anybody know anything?
BTW, let me know if you need more pics, or comparison pics between the black and red ones.

The ITRx were only DC2s. Maybe the original owner had the hookups and got the seat covers custom made by Recaro.

But what years did honda release type Rx's? I was under the impression only in 2000... when did they stop making db8 R's? The seats do look official but i have seen upolstery shops make exact covers that look oem. Contact Justin, the guy on here from NY who works for an authorized Recaro dealer. He made custom back seats for his R and you couldn't tell the difference either. Just my 2cents.

There were a few DB8R made up until 2000 (only 1648 made from 1998-2000, I have one
) and as far as I know a red seat was never and option, very few 98 spec DB8R even have red Front seats, usually black

We have enough members here from around the world. Many with hard information like:

I really don't see the need to aid in confusion by discussing "what if." I see it more likely that someone had them redone in red suede with black sitching. Its even (slightly) possible someone did have a friend at Recaro.

I'm curious of something, is there a way to permanently dye the fabric without it bleeding or spreading if you sat on it? If so, that would take out the need to duplicate the fabric and the tweed and having them rewrapped.
Wow, this thread exploded! Lots of good info here
So, here is a gallery of 12 comparison shots of the black OEM bottom cushion with the red bottom cushion. Just flip through the gallery to check them out. I wasn't sure what kind of shots you guys wanted, so let me know if you have requests. I didn't take any of the back rest, but I can if you want.
If you have a request, let me know angles, what pieces, etc.
BTW, I know they both look sort of dirty, but it's just the way the suede is brushed. It's hard to get a good angle with perfect colors on them.

The only difference I saw was with the angle of the stitching by the seat belt holes. The red goes straight across whereas the black is more of a slope. If they were both oem I would think they would be exactly the same.
could be the angle or the fact that the black seat was on top pushing the cushion on the red one down, creating a slightly different angle of which it appeared that the stitching had been done.
here it looks as if the red one has slightly more of an angle of stitching near the seat belts:

Yes, it is exactly what you said. I checked them out side by side and the angles of the stitching are the same. The angle is just the way I had them positioned.
