Default D15B2 Question

I bought a D15B2 from a guy yesterday who pulled it from his 90 CRX and I want to put it in my 92 CX.. He told me all I needed to do was use my stock intake manifold and distributor (D15B8??) and I could just bolt it in place of my current motor. Is this true? I want to run my stock ECU... Thanks!

Anthony

My stock motor is blown also.. that's why I'm shoving this motor in

It should..
I put a '88 D15B2 in place of a '95 d15B7 as described.

The crank pulley was different,
So I had to swap the two out for the power steering..

All the bolt holes for the extra brackets were there
but full of dirt and grease..

Great. Thanks! I will not need to make any wiring changes and the motor should run properly?

Just swap everything over and you are good to go. You will not need to make any wiring changes, as it is nearly the same exact engine.

Yep. As long as you stay within the engine series (in this case d-series) more often than not the answer is gonna be a yes.

you really should use your stock drivers side engine bracket. the bracket from the b2 will put the motor in an awkward position. this requires trimming the timing cover.

not an absolute much but its a good idea. also, use the flywheel clutch and pressure plate from your stock motor, not the b2.

the headswap you ask about is pointless, either way its gonna make 62whp....... give or take, lol

I tried to get a clutch alignment tool today from Advance Auto Parts and I asked for one for a 90 CRX d15b2 (which is the motor I have) and the tool is too small for the clutch?? What gives?? Sounds like I'll be using my stock clutch/pp/flywheel

Anthony

BTW, thanks for all of the help!

couple of people have told me to just use a socket to line the clutch up ? I can't find anywhere posted on how to do this effectively. I guess get it close and let the transmission line it up the rest of the way? Worst case, I'll find the correct tool for the job. Found a universal tool at napa for like 27$... little pricey.

i was looking for an alignment tool for my prelude not too long ago and ended up buying a second clutch (returned it) just to use the alignment tool. it turns out that i got more accurate placement of the clutch using sockets than i did with the provided alignment tool.
