Torque Spec for ABS Accumulator?
I need to replace the accumulator on a 1995 Accord EX 2.2. There is a bolt head on the top of the accumulator and it appears that the unit rotates. I assume there is a threaded nipple on the bottom which screws into the modulator body, with an O-ring between.
Does anyone know what the proper torque would be for the Accumulator?

On second thought, perhaps the bolt is the seal for the pressurized nitrogen in the accumulator. Some earlier models had a slotted screw for that purpose. In which case, how do you R & R the accumulator? Would a band wrench do it?
You need to be careful. The accumulator is under extremely high pressure
This might help
Disposal
The accumulator contains high pressure
nitrogen gas. Do not puncture, expose to flame, weld,
drop or apply impact to the accumulator, or attempt to
remove the accumulator from the modulator unit. The
modulator unit may explode and severe personal injury
may result.
1. Drain the high-pressure brake fluid from the modulator
unit (see page 19-128).
2. Secure the modulator unit in a vise so that the relief
plug points straight up.
3. Loosen the relief plug three and a half turns slowly
and wait for three minutes for all pressure to escape.
4. Remove the accumulator from the modulator unit.
5. Remove the relief plug completely and dispose of
the accumulator
I cannot find any info on removal of just the accumulator. Why do you need just that are you sure you dont need the whole abs unit

Thanks for the info on relieving the accumulator pressure.
As it happens, I am replacing the modulator with a used unit, and I am replacing the accumulator on the replacemnet unit with a new one.
I should have just removed the modulator and taken a look, it turns out there are two 6x28 bolts which secure the accunulator from underneath - it does NOT thread in. The bolts have a torque spec of 7 ft-lbs.
