94 Accord EX Stumbles Acceleration after 5000 -5500 rpm
Can anyone tell me why when i hit the gas really hard accelerating on my Accord, Me engine stumbles after like around 5000 rpm , I do have a Air Intake been running fine with it for like 2 months now. Only think I can think of is either im Running Regular Unleaded for fuel and should be running Octane 93 , or something within my Igniton thats not keeping up with the spark and "no engine light" yet. I know something is going on cause I redline the engine all the way to 6500 b4 with no issues
.
Any suggestions?

recheck your vacuum lines from your intake pipe to the valve cover and that other one. also, you should be running 87 octane on your accord at all times. anything higher will not improve performance and will just make your wallet lighter.
also check your timing or just get a full tuneup or you can do it yourself, oh yeah you might need a valve adjustment.

did you reset the ECU after the intake install?
and a fuel octane upgrade will help, with proper tuning

for accords, you only need higher octane gas when you either advance the timing OR you increase the c/r by upgrading your pistons or getting a thinner head gasket.

on an otherwise stock car you are correct though
Bad plugs....I promise

Fill your car up at half tank with premium to balance the mixture out, and then use at least plus. Not only is your VTEC not engaging due to the low octane fuel, but you are also maaking your engine much more prone to detonation which will not hesitate to fry your rings or hole your pistons.
Yes I reset the ECU after I installed the Air Intake , everything works fine till after i started red lining almost everyday since the noise is so awesome.!!
