90 Civic DX hatch: Car shakes real bad from 55-68ish mph, What could it be?
Hey guys, i was wondering if you guys knew straight up what it could be? This car has like 157k and the axles probably have no more than 20k since i last replaced them. I doubt thats it, but i thought maybe it oculd be the wheel bearing? Or the cars wheels need to get re-balanced, cause i think the weights fell off, but man at like the speeds of 55-68 the car shakes violently that if i say "Ahhhh" i can hear a ripple in my voice lol.
What do you guys think? Is the car have enough miles that the bearings could be going bad?
Any help would be appreciated!!!

Old enough for bearings? Yes. Your issue, most likely not.
Usually out of balance wheels. I hate those dang stickie weights! Axles can be out of balance too, but I'd start with wheels first since they are the most likely cause.

Good call. That probably is it. These tires have been in some close ****!!
I need new tires soon anyway, thanks for the great tips guys.

I don't know where you're located but sometimes when my car sits, ice will build up on one side of the inner wheel as snow melts off the car and then refreezes out of the sun, this causes exactly what you're describing. It sucks.

^^ Yeah I have had that happen only good thing is when the wheel heats up from the brakes and with the violent vibration it usually falls off pretty fast.

Hehe, yep but i think it is the tires. They looked pretyt bad when i checked them today. Ive been meaning to get some new ones anyways. I thought it could be the wheel weights and now probably the tires cause i think i have some skid spots on there.
More often than not, this is because of a bent wheel or an out of balance tire. A bad tire or bad bearing are possible, but far less likely causes.
