I'd suggest taking it somewhere else other than the dealership.

That and learn how to drive a manual correctly.

11,000 and a burnt out clutch?

Geez.

Either

1) it was defective and they may have to inspect it to prove whether it was or not or

2) you really need to learn to improve your shifting.

Have you launched it or gone through the gears roughly?

Yea i'm pretty sure you're not the first person in here saying that. Hopefully someone will remember the user that posted they had a problem with their clutch.

Most people just have 3rd gear problems

You need to go to a local mechanic that'll change your clutch for much cheaper than that.

Also learn how to drive and it won't cost you so much every 2 oil changes.

They're charging you a grand because that's what it's gonna cost to put a new one in. I'm willing to bet that judging by what you've said that the clutch is most likely burned out.

So i'm guessing that's their way of telling you that you might as well get the clutch since paying a grand just to have it inspected and then doing nothing about it is pretty much a waste of money.

When the clutch went out on the last car I had....they had to replace the clutch AND the flywheel which is why my price tag was soo high. Not sure if this is the case in your particular situation. Hopefully not.

So if it isn't....here's a link to a Clutchmaster's Stage 1 kit that will hopefully be compatible with your car.

As far as the labor goes. You're pretty much out of luck. Some dealerships or body shops might do it for a little less. But don't expect anything too dramatic. The labor to change a clutch is very extensive.

Go to any mechanic other than the dealer. Changing the clutch is not hard but time consuming. Most mechanic will charge you around $600-700 + parts.

You can get the whole clutch set for much cheaper than a rip off price of $800

Hell for $800, it should include a lightweight flywheel

yea 11000 is not alot of miles, theres another thread on here where a girls clutch went out and it was because of a defective fly wheel. If I were you, I would have honda take that beeech apart because thats not right. Unless they can prove you suck at driving with manual transmission it has to be covered under warranty.

You might wanna scope some stuff out before you drop all that money, it might be honda's fault.

I was gonna post that if you know the clutch is out, just do the clutch swap and it will save you a grand but Rico beat me to it. You should try and save up to get a stage 2 because stage 2 clutches are sexxxxxxx lol. Maybe something better than stock since it has to be done, like lighter fly wheel or something to that nature. Just food for thought if you have the money. Most people would like to do it but like previously stated, just the shop time is rape if you cant do it yourself.

yea i checked out that thread out already but we told the person at the dealer that if honda wasnt gonna cover it to let us know so we can get a lawyer and discuss the matter throught the lawyer......but the at the dealer stated that there was no need for that and we would find an agreement before it came to that

Yea honda pretty much buys out of all there law suit matters, really never makes it to the end because they always wanna settle out of court. If they dont fix it, just keep pushing that its always easy for you 2 do that. If anything, say that your dads a lawyer and **** will get fixed real quick lol.

I don't understand how they can say it wont be covered under warranties how many yrs do you have. I know i got 3yrs bumper 2 bumper 5yrs powertrain and 7yrs computer. What are they telling you why it won't be covered, sounds like bs to me and they don;t wanna pay.

It's a wear item, the same as brakes and tires. Unless there's some known factory defect, wear items aren't covered by warranty.

so heres the lastest news on the issue......we spoke to the manager and they cracked under pressure he wanted our approval to strip the tranny and the clutch basically to check everything piece by piece to let his accounts know if there is any defects on the parts.....the dealer is going to do all of this at no cost to us

I had my clutch slave cylinder replaced, it started squeaking around 10,000 miles. I found out on this forum that a few people had the same problem too. They blamed on the way I drove.
