Default RSX-S catback on ek Hatch

Wondering if anyone here installed the RSX-S catback on ek hatch? Wondering if this is doable? What modifications are required?

Thanks

I can do the cutting and welding if its not too involved. So no bending is needed? just cut & paste?

Basically. If you can do that on your own, your basically set

It will fit if you cut the axleback piping enough.

This muffler is very nice, sounds quiet and looks hott!!

read junior..he said hatch back..it's too big..don't need pics cause i tried it..96 hatch 05 type s muffler..doesn't work i don't care what you cut and reweld..i'm running 03 si muffler and that hits everything back there (swaybar and car) and it is significantly smaller than the rsx one..and i'm only runing this set up because i was trying to find a stock muffler that looked nice and flowed enough..i wouldn't suggest anyone else make this mistake.

sure does fit on a COUPE..not sure about four doors but i assume they have the room as well..
i wonder if all these people would buy hatches if they knew that there was absolutely no way that HAWTASS muffler would fit?
thanks paris..that's hot..

Ek coupes and 4drs are the same front to back underneath as far as exhaust legnths go. Midpipes are interchangable. Only differences in EKs are Y7 or Y8 equipped cars, and hatches have slightly diff exhaust legnths. EK's with the y7 come with a slightly longer B-pipe because the cat is on the header, whereas the Y8 equipped vehicles have the Cat underneath, therefore haveing a slightly shorter legnth.

This isn't an RSX-S muffler but I felt that it was related to the discussion. 2006+ Civic Si muffler on EM1. A lot smaller than the RSX muffler and is probably a better choice for a HB. Has a deep clean OEM sound. I had the tip added on.

I have few cars one of them being an rsx. Also i have 2 extra cat backs (not selling them), and the muffler doesn't look to be all that big even for the hatch. I have a 96 Civic CX hatch running a mugen twin loop style muffler which is about the same dimensions as the stock rsx-s muffler, i would say that it can be made to fit.

Here's a shot of the twin loop on my hatch

96 DX hatchback - 18030-S00-C20 MUFFLER SET, EX. 1 1996 CIVIC 159.27
96 DX coupe - 18030-S01-C20 MUFFLER SET, EX. 1 1996 CIVIC 159.27
96 DX 4-door - 18030-S01-C20 MUFFLER SET, EX. 1 1996 CIVIC 159.27

all DX's and all have cats on the exhaust manifold..only two have the same part number for some reason?

rsx muffler-as you can see the piping comes out on the driver side of the muffler when mounted on the car..pretty lame trying to run decent size piping and a sway bar..ep3 muffler has the piping coming into the muffler on the same side..twinloop obviously wraps away from sway bar on the other side..mufflers are not mounted solid and move a lot when driving..the ep3 muffler fits using the stock hangers but is just as tall and lengthwise fills the space from bumber to lca..the exhaust guy used a nut for the spacing when welding mine up (muffler rested on nut as it was touching muffler and lca)..

might not look like it but this muffler is pretty large..i removed the entire swaybar and lca trying to get the rsx-s muffler to work..with it hung on the stock hangers(yes they work) the tip sticks out and looks disgusting enough to make you not try to push that bitch any further up in a space that it clearly does not fit into..take it for what it's worth from someone who actually climbed under thier car with the muffler in thier hands..doesn't fit

thanks! yes it looks like a bitch of a job to make it fit right. I just finished a frustrating exhaust project with my EM2 last night (was up till 5:00 am and now at work), don't feel like taking on another exhaust challenge lol
