I got a 91 civic hatch, and i'm going to put in a ls engine in it, and i was wondering if the tranny will work cuz it is hydro, becasue someone told me that only cable tranny's fit ef's. I think hasport makes a cable to hydro conversion. So i was wondering if i will need 2 get a new tranny or just get the hydro mounts, and everything will be fine, and fit properly
The transmissions will bolt up and drop into the engine bay, but the hydraulic transmissions need a different mount (bolt patters are different) and clutch actuating mechanism. The both Hasport and Innovative's mechanical conversion have had issues with binding and stiff pedal feel. I went with Innovative's hydro-conversion. It has a lever actuated master cylinder...and it feels just like a hydraulic actuated clutch.
My previous engine was a B16A2 and had a YS1 cable transmission, but it never seemed to disengage the clutch correctly. Don't know about that one.
