Are there side effects from a B18 swap?
With in the next month I plan on swapping my 95 civic with a b18c1, and I was wondering if there were any long term issues with this swap. Im a college student so it's an investment for me and want the ins and outs.
there really isn't a bad side to this swap unless it is done absolutely incorrectly.
just make sure that whoever does the swap knows what they are doing and you shouldn't have any problems...you might lose air conditioning

+1. use the right parts. no cut corners. take the time.
if the swap isnt done correctly, u will have side effects such as frustration, short temper...etc.

Yes erections lasting longer than 4 hours - seek medical attention if this occurs.,

Seriously though the swap can be done and drive 100% reliably while retaining all accessories such as p/s, a/c, cruise, etc. etc. if you have those things.
I've had swaps for years with zero check engine lights, no funky idling issues, etc. etc.

Theres always downsides to everything, like that swap for example. 1. Have to run 91+ gas, 2. it has power to wear through tires fast as all of the sudden it added an extra lead foot to your already lead foot and 3, could cause warp speeds in 3rd gear vtack.
Man i love that swap

I did my own GSR swap in my EK. I researched a whole lot and asked questions on this forum when needed. I spent the money it took to make this thing right and it paid off man. Don't cheap things out and dont rush. I got mine BAR'd too here in CA!
Horsepower. If you can get over this side effect, it can be a good engine.
Oh, and some ECUs will look for a tank pressure sensor, which not all trims and years have. This will cause a check engine light.

How true that one is.
Anyway, we're not talking about Prozac here. But the closest thing to a 'side effect' that I have found on my swaps is reduced ground clearance. But that's on an EF.

I'm looking into doing a swap with my 2000 ex coupe. I've decided for sure to do a B18C1. I was just wondering what would be the best (power for the money/reliability) parts to also stick on/in the GSR during/after the swap to give it a little more kick. Like would the type R pistons be a better idea than the type R cams, something like that. Or should I just go out and get a CAI or new exaust.
