Default ????? Can You Turbo a 1988 Accord Lx-i ?????

First of all i have a 1988 accord lx-i that i bought for about $2000. It only has 140 k and i did about $1500 in engine work. Listed below.

1. seals
2. air intake
3. new radiator
4. new hoses

yet my car still pushing 130 to the wheels, how hard would it be to put a turbo on this car and what turbo would i use also what other engine modification do i need to do. So the motor can handle the pressure and heat as well as stress. This is my first car to be a project car please help

My $1500 in work included the engine, forged internals, seals, etc - and all turbo parts. Thats why nobody does those older Accords; $1500 to do it yourself with & using stock cast pistons and rods is way too much for a Honda IMO. Most older stock Honda motors can deal with a 50% increase in power with no problem, and 100% increase if it has decent rods and a good tune.

The problem is getting some sort of engine management on it. IIRC, the forums that deal with just that car are still kinda iffy on what to use, since there is lots of engine bay wiring needed to convert even close to OBD1. Using an FMU will work somewhat for low boost, but if you're doing 130whp, I'd doubt an FMU will let it last for another 10k on anything more than 175whp. FMU's are like sex with an old fat chick - your last resort only!!

If you can hook the Apexi AFC to your car, you can use slightly bigger injectors and have better fuel control than any FMU.

You can turbocharge anything with an exhaust pulse.

you overpaid for the car imo. You can find 1990-1993 accords for that price have way more potential w/ sohc f22.
