Suggestions for brake pads for auto-x/street
Why NOT the EBC's..I loved mine, were dirty but very rotor friendly and the greens lasted 15,000 miles of HEAVY left foot braking on a 2700lb Del Sol..
Not looking for a debate, but an opinion...I am looking for a set of pads and rotors for a Driving School at the end of the summer at the Glen, and WAS going to purchase the EBC's based on my past experiences...Have they changed compounds also or did I just have exceptionally good luck with them?? I was going to go with the Reds possibly instead of the Greens due to the increased heat range.. It's only a DX (4th Gen 2230lb race ready with driver) but figured I'd smoke the Greens right off the car...

You must've gotten a better set than even I did. I think I liked them more than most anyone else, but I faded and glazed them the first time I tried left-foot braking. Happened at every subsequent autocross thereafter (in my sub-2500lb Integra) before I finally gave up and bought the Hawks. Only faded them running VIR-N, but they did not glaze, and they stood up to all the left-foot braking I could throw at them without so much as a whimper.
BTW, I think it was MaddMatt who's SE-R took EBC Reds to the backing plate in 2-3 sessions on track.

panther+ or XP's front, OE or Kelate Metallics rear... for me...
for autocross i use the Kelate Metallics up front too.
You really think so? I would think the P+ or XP would take too long to heat up at an auto-x. I know that I need a good 1/2-1 lap on a road course to really get them stopping well...
Hmmm, I have a 93 Prelude, and EBC's are some of the only aftermarket pads I can find online that will fit. So...
I was thinking some OE or Redstuff pads for the front (OE grip level) and Greenstuffs for the back (high grip, to help get the rear end out
).
Wise? Unwise?
Thanks.

I currently have KVR street pads on the front and EBC greens in the back and I find them to have less bite than stock pads. They get a little better when the warm up, so I drive to grid with my left foot on the brakes.
I wouldn't get them again. I'll try something different next time.

Where's a good place to buy these for my GSR?

Does anyone have HP+ all around on their Integra?
I 'm basically thinking of going w/R4S or HP+ in the front and maybe leave the Metal Masters in the rear that are there already, but I was wandering if anyone has real good pads all around and if it would make a noticeable difference. The Metal Masters all around has been working out very well for the past 1.5yrs but after 30 auto-xes and street driving they 're starting to lose the bite they used to have (mostly cold bite, they 're still pretty good when hot). That's probably because I think I need fresh brake fluid though..

I have R4S all the way around, and it hasn't been a problem for me. I never ran OEMs or weaker rear pads, so I can't compare. Stock uses a weaker organic compound rear pad, so even there bias is set toward the front by pad choice.
I feel comfortable having the same pad all around. Even some of these vendors, when ordering pads, they suggest a "weaker" rear pad and get you all confused.
When I was ordering the Metal Masters last year the guy was suggesting AEM in the rear or the Axxis Deluxe regular pads. I asked him why and he said, "don't know that's what most people get and that's what I was told to sell.." I ordered the MM for all 4 wheels anyway and I never regreted it. Have not had any problems or any inconsistencies while braking. I figure if wasn't safe or something then why would the manufacturer make the rear pads for our cars?
Does anyone have the Axxis Ultimates all around? How do they compare to HP+ or R4S? I hear they have a revolutionary Kevlar & ceramic composition and very good cold stopping power. They 're also a little cheaper than the HP+ and a lot less than the R4S.

Autocross often rewards a setup that would be considered unstable on a race track. Rotation is key in a FWD car. I love running the kelate metallics all the way around, the car rotates very nicely under trail braking but it does take some time to get used to.

The last place you want the rear end out is under braking. There is a reason why brake bias is forward.
Gold or green?
Is the dust paint-friendly and easy to wash off?
Are they streetable?
Some extra rotation is sounding pretty good to me right now. Been using R4S pads and they're pretty good for autox/street.
