Timing Balance Shaft
I'm reinstalling the timing balance shaft belt on a 2000 Accord 4cyl. The 6X100mm bolt seems to engage in two different spots on the rear balance shaft. Is there any other way to make sure I have the shaft timed properly?
Thanks

I found this reply on the "timing of balance shafts 96 Accord 2.2L" post. It's the same tech photo but describes a timing mark on the pulley. There is a photo of the timing mark with the post.
on the rear pulley there is a dot stamped into it by one of the teeth; Then when it is in the correct position it lines up with a casting boss line at about the 5'O' clock position.
if you are not replacing that oil pump seal [because you like oil leaks] then there is no need to pull that bolt out on the rear of the block, and stick an alignment pin thru the countershaft.
Look at this lude pic and you will see the mark lining up with the casting line beside the bolt.

do you have a link to this thread?
I don't recall even looking for an alignment mark. I just used the bolt to align the shaft, though I don't recall even moving the shaft after removal of old belt. I can say I didn't have any problems and the engine ran great after was all said and done.

Thanks for the help. I definately appreciate it. I want to get this back together correctly. For sure I have moved the balance shaft.
I was going to attach the photo from the thread but couldn't get it included for some reason. Anyway, here is the link:

I don't ever recall looking for that alignment mark but if hondadude says it's there I believe him

Neither did I, in fact the only thing I lined up when changing the belts before dropping in the new motor was the timing belt. I just slapped the timing balance belt on and it's running like a champ
