im sort of on a budget cuz i just bought the car like 1 week ago, 2000 civic si,
mods-intake, coilovers, cf hood, and shifter

my buddy has the same car
mods-intake, adjustable cam gears, cams, header and exhaust, short shifter and some other bolt ons.

is there anyway i can gain about 20-30hp, i can do basically any engine work,
if i get cams should i get ctr or itr cams, and what springs, retainers, and valves, header
i need some quick hp but i never built a motor before so any help would be appreciated thx

no turbo, have money for turbo but no money for tuning
5-0, i got busted one time when i was 16 with no license,no seatbelt,
no insurence,expired plate, and hotwired car, street racing going 80mph

i guess your being safe when racing...i give you that much. Basically getting the same mods as your buddy will end up in a drivers race.

One thing you should keep in mind is security. Without, you wont have a car to drive.

 

A USED Zex nitrous kit will be your best bet.

haha almost forgot about NOS...that will def get you on top. Be sure to understand how it works and understand how to use it.

 

cheep fast 30-40 hp is def. nitrous big big big shot and your gooooood for the win.

however if you want your car to be good for something other than just that one race u have to take a dif path.

Headers and an exhaust upgrade..
You should be able to run a 75 dry shot with no problems
and im sure you will take your little buddy

 

i suggest giving your b16 block up for charity... or trying to sell it, and slap that b16 head on a b20.

you can even stay non vtec and still smoke him.
my 2000 si will never be b16 again, lol.

 

Go tune your b16.The mods which you listed earlier are good thing to start,go for buddyclub package spec3.nice products.

if you do any kind of motor work that isn't bolt-ons you're going to really want to get your car tuned. so if you dont have money for tuning..just do the same mods as your buddy and see who the better driver is. that sounds like a better race to me

 

ill never run nitrous with the stock engine

is as sloww as the single cam z6 or y8

 

rubin, hondas are about testing and tuning, u don't get a fast car out the box unless its a v8, which ive owned so putting some work in will def. make it faster
d16y8 is slower, and uneffective with bolt ons

 

im not hating bout B16s
I had both motors. i cant really tell the difference. no torque
I think the EM1 is kind of heavy. B16 are great on CRX or HB.
Drop the LS vtec and you will be so happy

 

just spend all your money on a whale *****.
Atleast you'll sound better.

 

I wouldn't do an ls/vtec cuz all my freinds have bad stories about them
unless u do it perfectly its gonna blow

You're going to need some money to do this. 20-30whp on a B16A is no easy task. Unless you turbo it. Then it's relatively easy and relatively cheap.

It's going to take internal work for your 20-30 extra whp goal to be achieved. It's pointless. For that price, you could just buy a faster car and beat your friend.

If you want to drag race, the BEST mod for a civic is a Camaro.

I'm so sick of this stupid myth. Only morons blow up their LS/VTECs. Had mine for over a year, daily driving to school/work everyday
