What can cause this? I have a new master cylinder, booster, fluid, and lines. The calipers I'm sure are stock. The car "feels" funny and kinda like it's dragging. It's a nice day today, so I actually drove the car to work to road test the new brake ducting. When I got to work, The front rotors seemed hotter than they should be.
How hot should they be? I don't know. Will a bad caliper seal cause them to drag?
~edit~ One more thing.... at idle, pressing the brakes will cause the car to idle surge dramaticlly. Possible vacume leak? Normal? Try it and tell me what you find.
John -- who's got to get over this whole brake issue thing.... which also may just be between his ears

The idle thing is vacuum realted. Not sure how to diagnose it though.
Yeah, the brake calipers could be dragging. Rebuilt calipers are cheap, may as well replace them. Rebuild the old ones by hand and keep as spares. Also, if you buy rebuilds, make sure they move freely - low power cars need the least drag possible on the straights.

the booster uses the vacuum. its normal for a bit of change in idle when pressing the brakes, but not dramatically. go through this.

Are we talking about the OEM floating calipers? If so, they "float" on a "caliper pin" and a bolt. Both need to be lubricated regularly with hi temp grease to ensure that they don't bind or stick.
If that doesn't work, you may have cocked the piston inside the caliper housing. This happened on my RX7. In this case, the piston would be stuck in the position though and eventually, stop dragging as the pad wore down.
