Default Time for some Bushings! Ehhhh...

Well guys I have finally gotten to the point of my car where I am ready to replace the bushings. My first step was to look at the car and see what all I HAD to be replaced. From me changing out the passenger side axle I can see that the Tie rod end boot is shot, and so is the lower ball joint boot on my knuckle. So I figured I would go ahead and replace my tie rod end... Through advance these are cheap and available. But I want to replace everything with OEM honda. Ehh heres where the problem begins...My local honda shop wants 70.00 for just the passenger side tie rod end!!! 25.00 for the boot on the tie rod end! I couldnt believe it....so I am asking HT....where do you guys buy yours from???

I know this isnt a picture of my tie rod...but you get the point

Think I am going to stick with OEM...it lasted on the car for 20 years...20 more would be great!

I was also wondering. Which bushings are best to get OEM and which are best to go with poly? The car is going to be used as a casual street driver.

Aftermarket parts must meet OEM specs as per SAE standards. Moog is a good brand (like honda) and offers lifetime warranty on their parts. Something honda doesn't.

I bought from these guys as well. Some 3-4k later everything is still good. Compared to Advanced Auto this stuff seems a better fit

go for it!

Go to majestic honda online get a printed list with prices and real part numbers not there refrence numbers. Take it to your honda dealer. Most of the time they well match the prices and shipping is free. Other than that order from majestic honda.

Check out NAPA for the tie rods. The ones they sell look exactly like OEM and are made in Japan.

DA RTA bushings are different from the rest. Don't use polyurethane... just get new oem / rubber ones.

I have heard this from someone else too. See I am wanting to replace all my bushings in my car. So is it best to replace everything with poly other then the rear trailing arm?

IMO after owning both... no. if you want stiffer **** for the street look into the mugen bushings (except for the RTA).

Poly is sticky and it binds thru out the entire suspension travel (unless you feel brave enough to figure out how to put zerk (sp?) fittings into you control arm mount ears).

Rubber for the street, spherical for the track.

Look at the automotive restoration industry as a whole.

Guys put thousands of man hours and tens of thousands of dollars into their restores to sell them for what? like $25000-$30000?

If you restored EVERYTHING on the car you MIGHT be able to get 8k.

Don't get into modifying / building cars if you're dollar conscious. Every performance part or new oem part you put on your car you're technically losing money doing it. Such is life.

Bought one of these exact same kits from the exact same seller. I've had it installed for 7-8 months and upper ball joint rubber casing is already deteriorating/cracking. The tie rods have fared better. I also bought some cv axles off ebay and the rubber did the same thing after 7-8 months. I've learned my lesson - you get what you pay for.

8 months really isnt that bad of time considering how cheap they are. Maybe with proper greasing they might last alittle longer!

I know that...trust me...I know that.
I just am kinda up in the air on selling the car as of right now. So I am kinda trying to stay away from throwing to much money into the car before I figure out what I want to do...
