how is it dumb? i keep reading about how soft our clear coat is. about how it's best to rinse your wash mit after each panel before moving on to the next, etc. also, how dragging ANYTHING across our paint will scratch it.
so, i'm trying to hit up the people who know how to dust off the car each day while doing as little damage as possible.
i don't want to use my cover 'cause i'm told it scratches. i can't use a duster because i'm told it scratches. i'm even told that a spray and micro towel will scratch. so am i doomed.
if you guys don't know, stay out of the thread. obviously, i have no idea what i'm talking about, which is why i'm here. if i knew the answer, i WOULD NOT HAVE POSTED. how difficult is that to get?
how in hell do you guys expect anyone to learn anything when you ******** to anyone that asks a question?
i swear. no wonder everyone talks **** on this website. i guess sticking to the tech forums is best.
if you can't help stay the hell out of my thread. hm. thanks.

not to be a smartass or anything, but its pollen season around here and its bad, but i don't think you can get all that dust off easily every morning. if you could, we would never have to wash our cars. Once i drive mine on the highway a few miles some of the "dust" blows off, but like said above, the best way is to wash it.
sorry for that run-on sentence

that is kinda what i've done with the microfiber/spray. but all the detail people say "noo! don't do that!". haha. so i'm thinking, "well what am i SUPPOSED to do." maybe i need to just not worry so much about my paint. i'm admittedly **** about it. hence this post.

not a smart *** at all! you are 100% correct. i am just trying hard to keep dust off because if i don't and i park outside at night.. it turns to mud in the morning from the condensation.. then when it dries, it's stuck and i gotta wash all over again.
yes. i actually dust my car off every evening. haha. as a result i rarely need to wash my car unless something major happens.
i know i'm not the only one all crazy about keeping their car clean. i'm waiting for one of those guys to chime in.
one of the moderators, via pm, suggested some type of static-cling dusting towel. maybe that would work.
'till i find something better, i guess i'll stick with the spray wax/microfiber.

wow... ur nuts... get a garage or something... after u drive ur gonan have mad dust either way. and wiping dust off isnt a smart thing to do... best thing in ur case is cover it and wash it every other few days or what ever. but if u can keep it in doors ull b aok
wash it and give it a quick fast wax over it and it should b fine. but trying to not have dust parking outside is a hard thing to do... i use to wash my car every like tuesdays and fridays if its nice but nyc isnt very nice and give it a nice fast wax... best i could do and i keep my car garaged but its dd so sucks either way. but always gotta have the car clean for the weeek endd

i even thought about cans of compressed air. haha.
anyway, i do drive the car daily. so i guess i have to remember: it's NOT a show car. also, i'm in a car port. this means the wind from the north comes in and swirls around like crazy.
i think the car cover is my best bet. if it does leave scratches, they won't be as bad as trying to clean it off...
time to get a garage and air compressor.
i know my issue is trivial. but i was curious. thanks for the info, guys.

That would be me.
If your car cover is causing scratches you should probably invest in a better one since using a car cover will help alot.
Almost all quick detail sprays shouldnt be used on heavy dust. I personally only use QD sprays after I wash my car or to help remove polish, sealant, wax, etc.
I would suggest using this stuff...
http://poorboysworld.com/spray-wipe.htm
You spray it on your paint and wipe it off just like a quick detail spray. Ive been using it for about 4 years now and I highly reccomend it
Also invest in quality microfiber towels if you havent already, trust me there is a difference between the ones you buy at Autozone compared to the more expensive towels found online... (poorboysworld.com, autogeek.net, pakshak.com)
I always try to wipe my car down in the same direction wind would flow across the body if it were moving. Alot of people tend to go in circular motions but that just leads to extra unwanted swirls. No need to put much force on the towel either, let the product do the work and almost let the towel glide over the paint.
One other product I would reccomend is FK1 425 quick detail spray which has anti static agents which are supposed to reduce dust attraction. I admit it didnt make a huge difference in reducing the amount of dust that would stick to my paint but it did leave it feeling slicker than any other quick detail spray has which helps the dust not to stick.

Waxing your car every 3-4 months will obviously make a difference as well.
Okay Im done with my detailing tutorial, hopefully that answers all your questions

Try maybe a anti static strap??? You know when you get out of the car and touch the door and you get a shock... Well thats static built up, apparently with that strap it gets rid of it.. May help the dust sitchh

i've read many good things about Poor Boy products in other A/C threads, here on H-T. i will, for sure, check it out. and yes: i think static is a big part of my problem. i wash the car, dry it. and bam. dust already. it's not like i live in the country. annoying for sure.
i'll check out those products. thanks!
