Default Fuel Injector flow rate question

Hello everyone,

Here's the situation:

1. I am currently running the stock 240cc/min injectors.

2. I purchased a set of RC 310cc/min injectors for the motor I'm building.

3. The stock 240cc/min injectors are going bad due to the fact the motor has 195,750 miles on them.

4. I've done the troubleshooting with the HELMS manual to narrow my problems down to the injectors.

5. I would like to put the RC 310cc/min injectors on my current motor and reduce the flow rate so that they flow like the 240cc/min ones, just until I complete the new motor.

6. Now the question?

In order to get the 310's to flow like the 240's, can I just use simple math to calculate the percentage I would need to lean out the VAFC fuel settings?

i.e. -> 240/310 x 100 = 77.42% -> 100 - 77.42 = 22.58%

So, if I lean out my VAFC settings 22% or 23% will the 310's be flowing like the 240's?

Any insight on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have an adj. FPR already. When I installed the new Walbro fuel pump I had to turn down the pressure quite a bit to get it back to the 48 psi. (line off and pinched) that it was before.

Thanks.

Reduce your fuel via your FPR...go to RC's website http://www.rceng.com and there is a pretty good explaination.

If I choose to use RC's method via the fuel pressure, I would need to change the fuel pressure from 48 psi to 28.8 psi. (line off and pinched) to get the 310's to flow like the 240's. That appears to be quite low, but according to the numbers it should work.

i.e. -> [square root of (new pressure / old pressure)] x old flow rate = new flow rate

------> [square root of (28.8/48)] x 310cc/min = 240cc/min

Hmmm, I may try this. Would you guys try this? Anyone else have a suggestion? Thanks.

I ran the 310cc/min injectors on the stock ECU program for a few months. I lowered the fuel pressure to around 30 PSI via a FPR and it worked find. You will probably not be at an optimal set-up but the car will run good until you get it tuned properly.

O.K., so the adj. FPR method will work. What about the VAFC method, just out of curiosity? Yack thinks it will work, anyone else? Thanks.
