And why would you stay away from cat-back systems?

lsd's exhaust will be a cat-back or something along those lines. like a1staecksauce said...why would you not want one. they give you the most gains you could possibly get. would you rather have stock piping and slap a muffler onto your car?

to OP: the magnaflow is a good choice for a not too loud exhaust.

with a cat back not only can you get good gains but also a good restriction when that throttle opens up. you dont want anything in the way when you open that throttle and give it all its got. thats the whole point of a header. there are no street headers just race headers and whats the point of a cat-back then? besides its dyno proven that the most gains you are gonna get is like 5 hp give or take. its just like a stock cat or high-flow cat. little to nothing gain. thats not to say that you are gonna gain hp if you go catless cause you are not but its better to have a high-flowing exhaust if you like to open that throttle and make the car scream. whats the point of getting a high flow air intake and putting or keeping restriction on the other side? pointless if you ask me and others out there too. the whole point is to have your engine breathing as freely as possible. you can never go wrong.

I owned Magnaflow muffler and resonator with custom aluminum piping, I think I had an 18" resonator do not recall size... sounded great on a 1999 Acura CL 2.3- F23A1 engine, same as you would find on 94-97 Accords. AEM CAI and OBX 4-2-1 header were the other bits.
