Hi, I own a 1997 Honda Accord (cd5 chasis)
Up until last year, when I took off the engine after a long drive, the cooling fan stayed on to help the engine to cool down quicker, however this has stopped happening.. Do any of you know what part I would need to replace for this to work again? Also do you know anything about the procedure for doing this?
Thank you

it is one of the fan swithces....i forget whicch one it is but hopefully someone will know...when one of mine went bad i just replaced both....ones on the housing of the top radiator house at the engine side and the second one is behind the engine on the thermostat housing(just follow the lower rad house to find the them housing)...if you replace just one note which one it is because they are different
For the Second time...AGAIN;
When the cooling fans run on a hot engine after the key is shut off; the controlling switch is temp switch B. That switch is in line with the top raditor hose where the hose nipple comes off the head.
the after shut down cooling is not an ALWAYS situation.
I think the switch closes the circuit at 195 degrees.
To prove the system is working you can unplug the switch connector and put a jumper wire across the wire connectors and the fans should run.
To test the switch, suspend it in a pan of near to boiling water, and check for continuity across the switch terminals.

Sorry to bring up such an ancient thread.. But do you know if the brand of the replacement part matters? I can get the "Honda" Part for $45 but then I can buy the BECK/ARNLEY Part # 2011608 instead for $16. I emailed them and they confirmed that this is the correct equivalent part to Honda P/N 37773-PT3-A01
your call is the peace of mind knowing you got a quality part for your car or do you drive and wonder is this part i saved 29 bucks on going to leave me stranded and might spend more in the long run. ?

Well even if the part died, I dont see how it can leave me stranded considering that it currently is non-functional and it has no detrimental effect on the car besides the fan not kicking in when the engine is off....
That said, my genuine honda part failed me before, so I will rather have 3 of these beck/arnley parts than one single honda.. I just wanted to find out if the brand affected functionality/compatability in any way
I normally have a tendency to go all out on things like parts, eg. just bought a 4 pack of NGK iridiums, do I need it no, but I like to give my car quality parts but for something like a switch, I think it is just being wasteful paying 3 times as much for no obvious advantage.
