Mixing Sunoco Brand oil with Honda Oil
I was running a bit low on oil so I bought a quart of Sunoco Brand 5w30 from the gas station and added it. I got my last oil change at Honda, so IDK what kinda oil they used.
But is it okay to mix this brand oil? Is it an okay quality oil?

lol yeah its more on the **** end of the chain but oil's oil.... now, depending on wether or not honda used synthetic and what weight they used, that might be something you wanna find out asap.... Im not an oil expert but i kno ur not supposed to mix regular with synthetic an vise versa, cuz once u go synthetic they say regular oil doesnt adhere to the synthetic molecules the same way synthetic oil does or something along those lines... But yeah give honda a call an see what they used, which is kinda sorta what u shoulda done first hand.. GL

That's incorrect. Modern synthetic oils are completely compatible with conventional oil, and vice versa.

Hmm, where was that stated cuz I must have missed that... And why would mechanics recommend not mixing the two if they're compatible..?? If it's not recommended than I figured it shouldn't be mixed.. Again, not an oil expert just ask dozens of questions before I do anything, and one thing i've heard over an over was don't mix synthetic with conventional...

You'll find the information on almost every synthetic oil manufacturer's website "FAQ" section. It's commonly held knowledge.

Because those mechanics don't know what they're talking about.

lol.... yeah, i guess im a nub for skippin past that part of the manual on the synthetic oil manufacturers website in the FAQ section... ill have to revisit that site an pay a lil more attention next time..
And it's actually not that commonly held, cuz I just did a lil test an called around to some local dealerships an they also recommended NOT to mix synthetic with conventional, and/or mix weights... Guess they're all just a buncha idiots too...

There are plenty of others, but you can get the idea.
