k20 motor swap
ok i did the search, and i have come up with a nother dumb question. lol has anyone done a k20 swap on a 07 civic. i mean the body is the same and all between si and non, and i would probly have too change the mounts. but what else would i need to do i have the r18a1 now, and realy want to mothball it. its a good motor for fuel eco and all. but it lacks any real punch without droping major money in it. i know im asking for trouble. but i figgure someone besides me is thinking the same thing or alredy has. thanks guys
You are right, other buyers did think about. Do you know what happened? They bought the Si.
Why would you mod your daily driver to such an extent? Your car is covered under a factory warranty. For the money you would spend to do the swap you could have a very fast 92-00 Civic with more options for tuning and a bigger parts bin for modifying the rest of the car.
Have you ever tried to sell a modified Honda/Acura? You will have a much broader buyer market if you sell it outright, and you will have a better trade value if you decide to call it quits. Only a Honda enthusiast will be interested in buying your vehicle and you will NEVER get what you put into it.
Be smart put that money toward paying off your car and eliminating all that interest you are paying, or picking up a used Honda/Acura and swapping that. Keep your daily driver original and have a weekend warrior you can park without fear of someone stealing it.

^^ this guy did a k20 swap in his 07 lx. I think he paid somewhere around 10k to do the whole job and its still not running like it should (lack of tuning).

WHat a god damned idiot, you can get an Si for like 21k, only a few grand more out of the box than an EX.
The price difference is so little that you're better off fronting the cost.

Wow. I'm sure he gets a thrill out of being ALMOST as fast as a stock Si given that he still needs to tune the thing.
And it only cost him 26 grand (16 for the car...being modest....and another 10K for the swap) to do it....as well as a loss of warranty coverage.
D'OH!

I thought about doin the k20 swap too. But that is if i would to have the car still in 6-7 years after warranties are up and the car would be paid off. Be smart about i mean if you want to spend all the extra just trade your car in and get an si. At least than its running right no problem, better suspension, interior nicer, and would probably be cheaper with the negative ect rolling over.
