Default dumb question about using an electric sander

this is my first try at body work and i am using an electric sander or da as everyone seems to call it? i am taking some spray paint of this car and i just wanted to make sure i wouldn't damage the actual metal. when i am sanding it the paint comes off super quick and i just want to make sure it's not damaging and marking the metal? i am not pushing hard or anything. is there a certain correct angle i am supposed to use? tyia

What sandpaper brand/ grit size are you using? What brand and size da are you using? What kind of pressure or angle are you using now?

We need more info than what you posted to answer your question.
