Removing the catalyc converter....please help.
Hello, im heading to the tracks in 2 days and planning on removing my catalyc converter to free up some restricted airflow. I wish to know whether it is possible to do it at home and if it requires any welding. If it does require welding, how much welding and where do i need to weld? if it does not require any welding, can you guys tell me how to remove it? thanks
Its a pain in the ***. I bought a straight pipe off the internet (direct bolt replacement) and it still took >6 hours.
Had to use a hacksaw on the nuts. Completely rusted.

hack saw and some sections of exhaust pipes that you can use that way you can remove and install at will

You should have used PB Blaster. It can take the rust off of anything. I used it on the upper manifold bolts and it was the shizzle. I let it sit ten minutes, then boom, it came off.

Manifold bolts are easy. You can get them w/ WD40. Cat bolts are a PITA! Most people cut them off, some are lucky and can take them off.

Too bad the PB Blaster didnt work for you. Anyhow, my cat bolts were easy to take off when I had to put on my Powercore Cat.
