Default went through a set of brakes in 2 months

I put a set of REAR brake pads on my LS in late december...drove it almost every day since then....had the front end alighened today and got home rotated the tires and looked at the rear pads i had put on...drivers side had still about 90% left but the passenger side had about 10% left!!..the emergancy brake isnt dragging or anything..i can turn the wheel freely when its jacked up..and the rotor hasnt turned blue or anything like it has been over heating...but the pads are GONE!...ok thats the problem now i will explain the issue i had when i changed the brakes in december...

i changed the driver side no problem..which is the side that has plenty of pad left...but the passenger side the head rusted soo bad i had to put vice grips on the bolt to get it out..and then it was sooo tight i had to heat it up to get it out...now i dont know if from the cailiper getting that hott caused damage or not...it doesnt seem to hang up when i have it jacked up...but i am not sure...when it drive it...that side rotor doesnt seem to be any hotter then the rest...but 90% of the brand new brake pad on that side is gone...

anyone got any suggestions...i have a feeling its the caliper which is gonna need replacing but i wanted to run it by everyone here first...

Were both the inner and outer pads worn equally?

grease up all the pins in the calipers and make sure everything is moving freely.

Check the slide pins on that caliper. It seems like they are not moving freely.

what are brand new? the sliders? the calipers? i usually use white lithium or copper paste on mine, im sure wheel bearing grease would do the same thing.

I would still check the pins. Did you have two different pins (parts 34 and 19)? See the part diagram and link for part numbers.

http://www.sonsacuraparts.com/...dIrno=

If the out pad is wearing, but the inner is not, the caliper is not floating properly on the pins. This causes the outer pad to remain in contact with the rotor.

Second question, is the outer pad worn evenly or wedged?

ahh i think i might have found the problem...when i bought the new pins from autozone...the four pins i replaced were all the same size...that diagram they are showing has the lower pin to be smaller...the ones i got look like pin 34 on the diagram...

I think the pin size is the same. The lower pin (Pin A) is grooved and high strength if I recall correctly. That most likely is the problem.

and to answer your other questions..i havent taken the new pads back off yet to see which way they wore...but the old ones that i took off...all of them were worn in a wedge shape...inner and outer..driver and passenger...

however that was also when the linkage and all was seized for the E-Brake cable..i got all that freed up...and i thought that was just the reason the old pads were worn that way

ok i put new pads on the car today i snatched a couple of pics of the old pads...the outer one is worn right down to metal, and the inner one is still worn with a huge hunk taken out of the bottom near the wear sensor...the inner one is slightly wedged shaped also...

i found the reciept to the pads that wore...i bought them december 22nd 2007 and if memory serves me correctly i put them on the next day. Money is tight right now soo i could only afford new pads. The car sat for about a week and i drove it today with the new pads on it and i could hear that side (passenger) dragging trying to clear the rust off..but it was dragging hard. soo eventually i am going to place the pins and the caliper i guess....

I know you said money is tight, but if there is any way you can get that repaired sooner than "eventually"......I'd do it.

well i just ordered the new pins tonight...wen i replaced the pins both pins were the same size and part #...the new ones i ordered the part numbers are differant and one says "lower pin" and "upper pin" i ordered 2 lower and two upper to replace both driver and passenger side..although i am only having problem with the passenger side....

the money is tight cause the girl i work with just bought a new car and is taking all my hours to make payment...i was trying to let the car just sit for now since i do have an alturnate vehicle to drive...but i hate that car....1994 nissan sentra 4 door automatic ...i enjoy driving my car too much to let it just sit like that
