89 Civic, new engine, starts, runs rough, dies
I recently purchased an engine for my 89 CX hatchback (blew timing belt in my last engine). It's a newly rebuilt d15 block (supposed to be about 500km on it) with a d16 head. I guess it was originally intended as a mini-me turbo kinda deal. I ended up installing my stock manifolds and distributor, due to lack of funds. Anyway, my issue is that when I try to start it, it starts (runs really rough) but quits in pretty short order. Then it won't start for a while. Last time I started it, I got a sort of a 'pop' sound right when it quit. From what I understand, it sounds like my valves are toast, but I'd like a more educated opinion on the subject. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
