Default how do i put the resistor on my IAT SENSOR ?

Hello everyone I am new here and I have a question I was hopeing anyone might be able to help me and awnser this for me. I just bought a 97 honda civic and i am trying to make this car faster and I was told that I could go into radio shack and buy a resistor and cross it on the IAT sensor and give it more horcepower Im pretty sure I done it wrong I bought a 4.7 ohm 1/2 watt I hope thats the right one but anyways Does it even matter what way it goes on bcause now the car runs like it wants to stall. Maybe if I switch it around or If this is even true to do. If anyone knows how to do this that has done it before can you please tell the the correct way to do this please? also are there 2 iat sensors? it looks like theres the one attached to the air box then if you follow that down even more theres another one so I did both of them just to be sure.I dont know a lot about cars so any help of other mods please let me know. thanks in advance MY E MAIL is STEVE_WORFUL@YAHOO.COM THANK YOU AGAIN

That's a new one on me. I don't think modifying the IAT sensor will increase horsepower.

Before the flaming begins let me try to give you some honest advice.

Remove any resistors you m8ight have installed, and don't bother trying to gain cheap horsepower with any sort of IAT trick.

All you will end up doing is causing check engine codes to be thrown, which will only put the ECU in "limp" mode which very may well cause the car to run worse, not better.

I understand the want for cheap/freeish horsepower, but unfortunately the IAT trick isn't a way to make it happen.
