98-02 Accord no start issues..."BIG SUPRISE", right?
Car: 99 Accord EX, coupe (factory theft deterant equiped)
Enigne: 3.0 v6
This car has given me the same intermittent problem. Dies in the middle of no where.Either while driving down the road or @ first attempt to start. I work in auto parts place and under stand the importance of doing your're home work to understand what your up against. I have been on Mitchelle and looked over the the Tech Bulletins. Found nothing pertianing to a car dying in mid flight.....
On here, I have read over possibilites of main relay issues, transmissions shift sensors going bad=ecu shutting down car, and the one I believe it might be (out of pure speculation) is the theft deterant system. As I understand so far, if the igintion key cylinder with the built in device that reconizes the chip in the key go bad, it may result in the car shutting down in some kind of immobilized mode.
Anyone got any ideas??

The description you give of the problem points more so towards the ignition switch or power to the dist.
If the immobilizer was causing the car to shut down while driving; it has it's own light on the dash panel that should flash if there is a problem in that circuit.
Does the engine restart right away?
As far as the first start of the day; you should turn on the key and wait a few seconds for the fuel pump to build full pressure, then crank the engine.
